The staining reactions are nonspecific to reticulum fiber and depend upon unknown complex physical and chemical factors, thus capricious results are to be expected. Therefore, the authors tried to modify the silver impregnation method and found that the procedure using an oxidize solution (0.3g potassium permanganate and 0.3ml sulfuric acid were dissolved in 100ml of distilled water) gave stable and satisfactory results. This method has proved superior to others in demonstrating a specific staining for reticulum fiber. Therefore, the authors tried to modify the silver impregnation method and found that the procedure using an oxidize solution (0.3g potassium permanganate and 0.3ml sulfuric acid were dissolved in 100ml of distilled water) gave stable and satisfactory results.
