Globalization is one of keywords, and personnel and physical exchange will be encouraged in such society. Curriculum from elementary school to high school in Japan integrates international understanding class as key stone of school education to foster personnel who are responsible in such society. Although the history of international understanding education in Japan is not long yet, schools across the country have started the class. This research investigated international understanding education in school curriculum and found out the following tasks. 1) The subject teachers need to have much experience of international exchange. 2) The class needs to emphasize not only to appreciate other cultures, but also to promote own culture. 3) It is necessary to consider the international exchange with cooperation of the whole community. Universities play important role in fostering teachers and leaders in a society to push ahead international understanding by improving the tasks. From the point of view, this paper examined two programs which are implemented in Nagasaki University. One of two is I-STEP, and the other is an exchange program in the Elementary School Attached to Nagasaki University, Faculty Education. The result suggested that these projects contribute to improve the tasks 1) and 2) mentioned above.
