The appreciation of yen since February/1993 and the price differentials between domestic and overseas market have been the most influential factors and reached to change the purchasing policies in KEIRETSU transactions. Secondly Japanese corporations are required to adapt their business and banking practice to international standardization and regulation such as ISO 9000 Quality Assuarance Standards, BIS Net Worth Ratio Regulation, etc., especially in crossborder transactions. And even in the core part of Japanese Management System like personnel management a move to performance-based reward system, sismilar to American or European pay system, is becoming more significant.
