Since students find it familiar and enjoyable to view such music videos, they tend to respond enthusiastically to learning activities that make music videos and songs the focus. This article discusses two learning activities with songs as the focus: (1) Grammar pattern and creative writing combination exercises and (2) Descriptive language devices. In the first activity, the conditional tense is featured prominently in The Beach Boys' “Wouldn't It Be Nice”, and students are given a set of frames in which they can insert their own ideas to generate writing topics.
