Although there are, no \ndoubt, many problems to be encountered in philosophy teaching, the main focus of the paper is \non a course design problem for non-philosophy majors: how to design an effective philosophy \ncourse for students who have no prior background of philosophy and do not major in philosophy in the future. I survey research in higher education.
