However, cultural heritages are not necessarily tangible. Intangible heritages are also humankind’s historical artifacts. In Japan, protection system for intangible cultural heritages was established, which was the first in the world. To figure out the total intangible folk cultural properties all over Japan, several inventory surveys had done in the past. These surveys are very efficient to know the existence of event, however, they are not enough as reports of each event contents. Also on “Ikanoura Zizo-Matsuri(Zizo-Festival)” that we picked as a case study in this paper, the reports are far from detailed, though Nagasaki prefecture government conducted several surveys in the past. Thus, the first aim of this paper is to delineate the current state of Ikanoura Zizo-Matsuri which is an intangible folk cultural properties. We also attemt folkloric analysis, consideration on historical change, in the range that we need for current examination.
