This fact is caused by the geometrical nonlinearity of the cable. Analytical approach to investigate this problem was presented by using the multiple-degree-of-freedom approach because the cable is continuous system. However, this approach for the present problem is not yet considered. In the present paper, out-of-plane vibrations of cables under inplane forcing are analyzed quantitatively by using the multiple-degree-of-freedom approach.
