They caused a considerable disaster with loss of 299 human lives. This paper tries to investigate the debris flow disaster by some accomplished approachs for a contribution to the regional disaster planning. Main contributions are as follows. (1) gives a precipitation criterion of occurance of debris flow in Nagasaki city and its environs. (2) clarify the condition of sediment transport due to debris flow in a mountain stream for a case study.
