The structures of the intermediate phases formed were determined by X-ray microanalysis and X-ray diffraction techniques. These structures were compared with those formed on Fe-Zn and Fe-Al bearing Zn systems. The results obtained are as follows. (1) Five intermediate phases were found in the diffused layer. (2) These phases are a r-Fe3Zn10, a r1-Fe5Zn21, an Al bearing δ1-FeZn10, a Zn bearing θ-FeAl3, and a Zn-rich phase.
