The authors had thirteen classes in the course “Introduction to computer science” in 2008. This study has surveyed students' opinions about computer operation skills and their current levels, and discusses the familiarity of the skills for Microsoft Word. Questionnaires and exam results are carefully analyzed. Based on the results of the study, this paper also discusses creating and designing the effective course content and program development for “Introduction to computer science”.
