The supports of the plates are assumed immovable during bending and the resulting membrane stress is the source of nonlinearity in this problem. The application of a modified Galerkin method to solve the governing nonlinear partial differential equations yields a nonlinear ordinary differential equation, of which the solution is obtained approximately by using an iteration procedure. Numerical results are presented for various boundary conditions and various shape factors of ring sector plates.
