After analysing the results obtained by experiments, the following conclusions were obtained. (1) Internal friction angle, φ' , of sands increases with a decrease of partic1e size. (2) Difference of shear strength of sands based on particle size is due to the volume change behaviour at failure. (3) Coefficient of earth pressure at rest, K。, of sands increases with an increase of particle size.
