Part of this immunity involves anti-malarial specific antibodies. Acquisition of these malaria-specific antibodies depends not only on exposure to malaria parasites but also on the human genetic predisposition. CTLA-4 is a costimulatory molecule that delivers an inhibitory signal to suppress T-cell as well as B-cell responses. We investigated associations between malaria-specific antibody levels and CTLA-4 polymorphisms in 189 subjects living in a hyper-endemic area of Papua New Guinea (PNG), where both P. falciparum and P. vivax are prevalent. We determined P. falciparum/ P. vivax specific IgG/IgE levels (Pf-IgG, Pv-IgG, Pf-IgE, Pv-IgE) and polymorphisms in the CTLA-4 gene at position -1661 promoter region (A/G), the +49 exon 1 non-synonymous mutation (A/G), and the +6230 3‘-UTR (A/G). All quantified antibody levels were significantly higher in subjects > 5 years (n = 150) than in subjects 5 years of age (n = 39). In children 5 years old, significant associations were detected between CTLA-4 +49 (GG/AG vs. AA) and Pv-IgG (median 18.7 vs. 13.7 Μg/ml, P = 0.017) and Pv-IgE (266.6 vs. 146.5 pg/ml, P = 0.046). No significant difference was observed in subjects > 5 years old. These results suggest that the CTLA-4+49 polymorphism influenced Pv-IgG and Pv-IgE levels among children less than five years old in the studied population, which may regulate the age- and species-specific clinical outcomes of malaria infection.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_2_description_63":{"attribute_name":"引用","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"Tropical Medicine and Health Vol. 36 No. 2, 2008, pp. 93-100","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_2_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"日本熱帯医学会"},{"subitem_publisher":"The Japanese Society of Tropical Medicine"}]},"item_2_relation_12":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type":"isIdenticalTo","subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.2149/tmh.2008-07","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_2_rights_13":{"attribute_name":"権利","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_rights":"Copyright (c) 2008 日本熱帯医学会"}]},"item_2_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA11912860","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_2_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"13488945","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_2_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"EISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"13494147","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_2_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Osawa, Hikota"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Troye-Blomberg, Marita"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hirayama, Kenji"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kikuchi, Mihoko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hombhanje, Francis"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Tanihata, Takeo"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Udomsangpetch, Rachanee"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Björkman, Anders"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kobayakawa, Takatoshi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kaneko, Akira"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2020-12-23"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"TMH36_93.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"64.5 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"TMH36_93.pdf","url":"https://nagasaki-u.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/17660/files/TMH36_93.pdf"},"version_id":"0e8fcac1-5f46-49b4-8841-2f44bb9d97db"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"CTLA-4","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"IgG","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"IgE","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"malaria","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"polymorphism","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"CTLA-4 polymorphisms and anti-malarial antibodies in a hyper-endemic population of Papua New Guinea","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"CTLA-4 polymorphisms and anti-malarial antibodies in a hyper-endemic population of Papua New Guinea"}]},"item_type_id":"2","owner":"2","path":["36"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2009-04-09"},"publish_date":"2009-04-09","publish_status":"0","recid":"17660","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["CTLA-4 polymorphisms and anti-malarial antibodies in a hyper-endemic population of Papua New Guinea"],"weko_creator_id":"2","weko_shared_id":2},"updated":"2023-05-15T19:24:58.674274+00:00"}
