In Nagasaki Prefecture are among 38 (66%) out of 56 with more than 100beds at least one male nurses was working are employing male nurses, and 18 plants (33.8%) are not employing male nurses. Getting replies from male nurses, stations where they work are Public ward 43.8% Department of psychiatry・Operation room・Intensive care unit・Dialysis room 37.1% and the others 18.0%. There is a strong image of masculine gender in both, male nurses and directors of nursing service department. However, nursing has to be professionalized by them selves, and think of the role nursing that not influenced by sexism. Most of male nurses were agreed about going into public ward, and there were many affirmative comments for directors of nursing service department, such as 'eager to thcir jobs', 'have a sence of responsibility', even though they are expecting male characteristics, which is a reason of assigning male nurses to the public ward.
