Role-play scenarios were developed together with medical students and nursing students. Medical students played roles of medical doctors while nursing students played roles of nurses. A simulated patient played a role of an eldest daughter who had just been informed by her mother that her father had been diagnosed cancer, and who had came to ask the medical staff about her father's condition. Almost all nursing students described that it is important to understand the eldest daughter's feeling and to console her. On the other hand, almost all medical students described the need to evaluate the situation while trying to understand the family's feelings.
