内容記述 Chemistry Education as an Instrument of Environmental Awareness emphasizes the crucial role of fostering environmental consciousness and promoting critical thinking regarding the growing environmental challenges. It is essential to integrate environmental education within the school curriculum to raise awareness among students. By focusing on environmental issues, students can develop a more informed, critical, and sustainable perspective on the impact of human activities on the environment and society at large. This study highlights the importance of environmental education in students' daily lives and in the school setting, illustrating how it can serve as an effective tool for raising environmental awareness. The research involved observation on the implementation of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) activities with second- and third-grade students at Nagasaki Minami High School in Nagasaki City, Japan. These activities were centered on scientific experimental topics, allowing students to choose their research themes, learn about experimental procedures, gather samples from the field, when necessary, conduct laboratory experiments, and present their findings. These hands-on experiences were designed to engage students actively in environmental issues. The results indicate a high level of interest and commitment among the students, as they eagerly participated in the projects, demonstrating enthusiasm for exploring the environmental damage caused by human activities. Additionally, students showed a strong focus on practical solutions such as reusing materials to reduce waste accumulation. This study underscores the effectiveness of incorporating chemistry teaching into environmental education to foster a deeper understanding of environmental issues and encourage responsible, sustainable behavior among students.
