The development of Dirofilatia immitis in the mosquito, Aedes albopictus was observed at a various temperatures. Ae. albopictus was classified to be the member that D. immitis did not adapt well to this mosquito as its vector. At 15℃, all microfilariae did not molt 2nd stage by the 60th days after blood meal. The infective larvae of D. immitis were found in the proboscis of Ae. albopiptus on the 9th day after taking blood meal at 30℃, on the 14th day at 25℃ and the 34th day at 21℃. The developmental periods were about similar to those of D. immitis juvenile in Ae. togoi. The infective larvae from Ae. albopictus were brisk in their movement in saline water, and body lengths of them were almost same as those from Ae. togoi. The developmental zero of D. immitis in the mosquito was estimated from the present results and Prevvious papers to be 15.1℃. |
