A total of four species of haemoparasites was recorded from three species of frogs captured at Mogi, near Nagasaki, in 1978. a) Trypanosoma rugosae originally described from the tadpoles of Rana rugosa was detected from a mature adult of Rana nigromaculata (Fig.1, c & f). b) Many cigar-shaped parasites (Fig.1, e) of Trypanosoma tsunezomiyatai were detected from one of R. rugosa. Usual round parasite was never found from the smear. c) Cylamoeba was detected from one of Rana limnocharis limnocharis (Fig.1, g). 2. Trypanosoma nagasakiense was rediscovered from two out of seven of Hyla arborea japonica taken at Nopporo Forest Park, near Sapporo as shown in Fig.2. Trypanosoma sp. B in Miyata, 1978, was detected from the same blood smear (Fig.2, k). This type might be an immature form of T. nagasakiense. 3. IsosPora nagasakiensis Miyata, 1979, was originally detected from the feces of Takydromus tachydromoides (Schlegel, 1838) taken at Nagasaki City and described in Japanese (Miyata : Parasitic Protozoa. Its taxonomy, ecology and evolution). This is a redescription in English. Oocyst ellipsoidal to ovoid (Fig.1, h). Oocysts measured 22.5 to 25 by 20 to 22.5 μm with a mean of 24.6 by 21.7 μm ; their length-width ratios ranged 0.89 to 0.9. Oocyst wall smooth, yellowish brown, composed of a single layer. Micropyle, oocyst polar granule, and oocyst residuum absent. Sporocysts ellipsoidal with Stieda body. Sporocysts measured 10 to 13.8 by 7.5 to 10 μm with a mean of 12.1 by 9.3 μm. Sporocyst residuum composed of many globules. | |||||||
