| 内容記述 | Grazing effects of sika deer (Cervus nippon nippon) on the vegetation of the old field were studied from May to November, 1984, in Nozaki island, the Goto Islands, western Kyushu. In May 1984, an enclosure for protecting from grazing of sika deer was established in Dichondra repens community on Nokubi, central part of the Island. The vegetational changes on both inside and outside of the enclosure were investigated twice, in July and November during study period. The number of species and the relative abundances of the dominant species were compared between two areas. The potential species of natural grassland in warm temperate zone were recovered inside of the enclosure, so that it was suggested that the retrogressive succession was entailed by feeding pressuer of sika deer. Based on these results, the feeding effects of sika deer on the succession of the old field were discussed with proposing a schematic model. | |||||||||||
