| 内容記述 | To make clear the possibility of feeding of mosquitoes on some littoral animals, field observations and laboratory experiments were made in Nagasaki area, Western Japan in 1980 and 1981. The results of the field observations showed that though many fish of the mud-skipper, Periopthalmus cantonensis(Osbeck) were observed on the riverside rocks of the mouths 2 rivers in the evening, no mosquitoes were observed on the fish. The results of the feeding experiments of 2 aedine mosquitoes on 14 small animals, 3 crustaceans; 3 annelids and 8 fishes, showed that Aedes (Stegomyia) albopictus was fed on 4 fishes, P. cantonensis, Odontamblyops rubicundus (Hamilton), Boleophthalmus pectinirostris (Linnaeus) and Acanthogobius hasta (Temminck and Schlegel). The engorged mosquitoes on the fishes laid eggs, and the eggs hatched normally. Ae. (S.) aegypti was attracted to fishes and showed feeding activity on it, however, it was not confirmed whether they succeeded to feed on the animals. | |||||||||||
