| 内容記述 | This paper investigates tax haven use of Japanese listed firms by linking foreign-subsidiary data with financial statements. Tax havens are defined as the 41 jurisdictions in Hines and Rice (1994). Using panel data for 2006‒2008, we find that about 20％ of firms maintain tax-haven affiliates, with much higher prevalence among large and manufacturing firms. Haven use is not robustly associated with lower effective tax rates or lower profits, implying limited evidence of aggressive tax avoidance for Japanese firms in this period. | |||||||
