| 内容記述 | This study addresses how relational intelligence is enacted in Japanese digital communication, a topic that remains underexplored despite the growing importance of online interaction. Using the “Yahoo! Chiebukuro data (3rd edition),” the analysis focuses on three core relational expressions: apology, gratitude, and request. A large-scale search across the dataset revealed a clear asymmetry: while these expressions were largely absent in questions, they appeared frequently in answers, suggesting that contributors perceive relational work as a primary responsibility of the responder. To examine how these expressions function, a qualitative analysis was conducted on a sample of fifty instances per expression type. The results showed distinct positional tendencies―such as closing-position apologies and mid-response gratitude―which reflect strategic efforts to manage interpersonal distance and modesty. Furthermore, in the absence of emojis, users mobilized alternative resources, such as kaomoji and repeated punctuation to convey empathy and attentiveness. These adaptations demonstrate how contributors enact relational intelligence by dynamically adjusting their strategies to platform affordances. This study highlights key patterns in Japanese digital discourse and establishes the value of a relational intelligence framework for analyzing how cultural norms are reconstructed in mediated settings. | |||||||
