Dominants in surface layer were Elagatis bipinnulata, Caranx sexfasciatus, Abudefduf vaigiensis, and Canthidermis maculatus, whereas schools of skipjacks and tunas under flotsam always stayed in layers deeper than 30m. Whereas Leptoscarus vaigiensis and Calcharhinus falciformis were an exclusive sargassum feeder anda piscivore, respectively, the most important food organismsfor most other fishes were crustacean plankton and larval anchovy, although pteropod, arrowworm, and polychaete were also well consumed by some fishes. It was found that at least some individuals of flotsam fishes in the ocean spendtheir larval/juvenile stage in the ocean and thereafter seek for flotsam there., 長崎大学水産学部研究報告. 1998, 79, p.9-20}, pages = {9--20}, title = {西部太平洋熱帯水域の漂流物に伴う魚類}, volume = {79}, year = {1998} }
