Surveyed area are divided into 5 areas, that is, river mouth, bay head, mid bay, bay coast and strait. Land derived organic matter in the sediments are 47.1~91.4% at the bay head of Tango-kai bay and 31.4%, 37.1% at the mid bay of Wakasa bay. The contents of n-alkanes are high in the sediments at the Yura river, bay head and mid bay. The distribution pattern of L/H (L≦C_<20>, H≧C_<21>) of n-alkanes is different from the distribution pattern of δ^<13>C. The concentrations of dinosterol (a) are large in the silt from the bay head and the silty sand from the mid bay and strait. The distribution pattern β-sitosterol is similar to the distribution pattern of δ^<13>C. In a triangular diagram of C_<27>, C_<28>, C_<29>-sterols, the sediments of the strait and mid bay are plotted on open marine.
