 note = {ISO 14001 was published in 1996, and 14,070 organizations in Japan have been certified as of August 2004. Firms acquiring the certification are no longer only large companies but also small and medium-sized enterprises, and their business types are not limited to electrical/electronic but to diverse fields. Amidst such changes, various difficulties concerning ISO 14001 are being brought to light. Previous studies and surveys conducted thus far, however, merely reveal the number of problems surrounding ISO 14001.
