As it is popular, obtainable, cultivable and available in all seasons, it is a good sample for science experiments. Clustering and dispersal of chloroplast in E. densa have been known. The present work was planned for teaching materials on chloroplast movement in E. densa from energy metabolic viewpoints. Then, leaves were incubated in cold water at 2-4℃ and in solutions of metabolic inhibitors to confirm the involvement of energy metabolism. Metabolic inhibitors, DNP and NEM were applied. As DNP is designated as a dangerous chemical, it needs to be done with attention. Under the direction of teacher, these can be used at school science experiments. Low temperature and the metabolic inhibitors inhibit both clustering and dispersal of chloroplasts. From these data, the involvement of energy metabolism was suggested on both clustering and dispersal of chloroplasts. Thus, experiments in E. densa may be available as teaching materials for the energy metabolism in biological science experiments., 長崎大学教育学部紀要. 自然科学. vol.69, p.17-24; 2003}, pages = {17--24}, title = {オオカナダモの葉の葉緑体運動の実験教材化}, volume = {69}, year = {2003} }
