 note = {The purpose of this paper is to develop new ROE formula from the standpoint of risk appetite. The reason for setting this purpose is related to the Japanese Corporate Governance Code which is set in 2018. The object of the Code is to promote “offensive governance” to increase the average of Japanese company’s ROE to the average of western company’s ROE. In order to accomplish this object, the Code sets many principles. One of them asks company to create risk-taking environment. In other word, to promote offensive governance needs to be based on the risk-taking. This paper tries to combine ROE and risk-taking environment with the concept of risk appetite. Although there are several definitions of risk appetite, this paper interprets risk appetite as loss tolerance, and tries to develop new ROE index., 創刊第100巻記念号
