This study aimed to（1）larify the knowledge and practices of tooth-brushing among nursing university students and（2）compare the differences between those that practiced dental health behavior and those that did not, in order to identify nursing suggestions necessary for effective oral care.\nSubjects and Methods： The subjects were a total of 229 male and female nursing students of University A in their first to fourth years. By reference to a previous study, an anonymous self-administered questionnaire was used to investigate the subjects’ basic characteristics, oral health status, whether they had regular dental health check-ups, their tooth-brushing practices, tooth-brushing techniques, and general lifestyle.\nResults： Sixty seven （53.6%） subjects had a dental check-up within the past year. No statistically significant differences were found between those that practiced dental health behavior and those that did not with respect to gum disease, tooth-brushing techniques and lifestyle.\nConclusion: Nursing university students’ \"Awareness of regular dental examinations\" and \"habits of brushing teeth\" such as frequency and time of brushing teeth were almost the same as those of general adults and university students of medical welfare. 14.6% of students had \"suspicion of periodontal disease\". Therefore, we believe that nursing university students to take dental health behavior will be the first step toward preventing periodontal disease in the
