The Goto archipelago are islands where many hidden Christians had lived. And several churches in the Goto archipelago were registered as World Cultural Heritage in 2018. The Okuura district of Fukue island and Enoura district of Maeshima island, where the smallpox tombs were investigated this time, are closely related to hidden Christians.A memorial monument for those who died of smallpox remains in the Nangoura area of the Okuura district of Fukue Island. Four smallpox tombs were confirmed around it. They are some 19th century tombstones. The Okuura area is the land where the hidden Christians who migrated from the Nishisonogi Peninsula landed, and there ares also some hidden Christian tombs nearby. On the other hand, on Maeshima, off the coast of Narushima, there is the tomb of Yamaguchi Rinjuro, who died of smallpox infection. There are more than 10 tombs that combine stones around it. Maeshima is said to be the island where the hidden Christians settled, and it is difficult to determine whether these tombs are smallpox tombs or hidden Christian tombs. The isolated space of smallpox and the living space of hidden Christians are close to each other, and there are some parts that share the space., 多文化社会研究, 8, pp.245-266; 2022}, pages = {245--266}, title = {五島列島の疱瘡墓について}, volume = {8}, year = {2022} }
