The origin of RTP was identified as through-space conjugation by hydrogen bonding. Although crystal structures of other non-chelating EDTA and its salts have been previously reported, RTP-emissive or not are unknown. Therefore, in the present study, I investigate the intra- and inter- molecular hydrogen bonding distances in the crystals of 25 non-chelating EDTA and their salts using Cambridge Structural Database (CSD).
