Patient outcomes may vary according to multiple factors. We aim to determine the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance and factors associated with mortality and hospital stay.\nMethods: Clinical and microbiological data of patients with sepsis or septic shock were retrospectively collected for 15 months. Patients with negative blood cultures and patients that did not meet the SEPSIS 3 criteria were excluded.\nResults: We included 48 septic shock and 28 septic patients (mean APACHE II 20.32 ± 5.61 and mean SOFA 9.41 ± 3.17), with a mean age of 60.5 ± 16.8 years and 56.6% males. WBCs, neutrophils, INR, and fibrinogen levels were significantly associated with mortality. 59.5% of the cultured bacteria were gram-negative (most common E. coli) and 27.8% were gram-positive (most common S. aureus), while 7.6% were other types of bacteria and 5.1% were fungi. Resistance patterns to gram-negative were varying, and resistance to piperacillin/tazobactam, carbapenems, and aminoglycosides were from 60% to 100% (A. baumanii), while they were highly sensitive to Colistin. E. coli was also resistant to ceftriaxone (77.8%) and sulbactam/cefoperazone (44.4%). Resistance rates for Gram-positives were high, from 86% to 100% for oxacillin, while for vancomycin, teicoplanin, and linezolid, they were often low but arrived up to 42.8%. According to our logistic regression analysis, patients over 65 year-old and those who received corticosteroids had a significantly increased risk of in-hospital mortality (OR: 4.0; OR: 4.8).\nConclusion: Sepsis still poses a significant threat to patients’ health, even when positive blood culture results allow the administration of specific antibiotic treatment.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_2_description_63":{"attribute_name":"引用","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"Hospital Practice, 50(5), pp.407-415; 2022  ","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_2_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"Taylor & Francis"}]},"item_2_relation_12":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type":"isVersionOf","subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.1080/21548331.2022.2133414","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_2_rights_13":{"attribute_name":"権利","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_rights":"This is an Accepted Manuscript of an article published by Taylor & Francis in Hospital Practice on 07 Nov 2022, available online: http://www.tandfonline.com/10.1080/21548331.2022.2133414."}]},"item_2_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"2154-8331","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_2_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_ab4af688f83e57aa","subitem_version_type":"AM"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hieu, Truong Hong"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Ngoc Thao, Pham Thi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Cucè, Federica"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nam, Nguyen Hai"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Reda, Abdullah"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hassan, Osman Gamal"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hung, Le Thanh"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kim Quyen, Dinh Thi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Abdul Aziz, Jeza M"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Le Quang, Loc"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Carameros, Alison Marie"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Huy, Nguyen Tien"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2023-11-07"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"HP50_407.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"639.2 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"HP50_407.pdf","url":"https://nagasaki-u.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/27891/files/HP50_407.pdf"},"version_id":"2aab2294-be06-437b-b30a-2d33a1b67e92"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"Sepsis","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"septic shock","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"mortality","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"positive blood culture","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Burden and mortality of sepsis and septic shock at a high-volume, single-center in Vietnam: a retrospective study","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Burden and mortality of sepsis and septic shock at a high-volume, single-center in Vietnam: a retrospective study"}]},"item_type_id":"2","owner":"6","path":["13"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2023-02-02"},"publish_date":"2023-02-02","publish_status":"0","recid":"27891","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Burden and mortality of sepsis and septic shock at a high-volume, single-center in Vietnam: a retrospective study"],"weko_creator_id":"6","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T18:14:58.029428+00:00"}
