 note = {This article begins with the dialogue between critical discourse analysis (CDA) and multimodal discourse analysis (MDA). It then explores the research approach of multimodal critical discourse analysis (MCDA) which is different from multimodal semiotics, and discusses the core concepts of MCDA, introducing a social and affordance-driven approach of multimodal critical discourse and critical visual analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, a hypothetical model of MCDA for media has been proposed.
