acceptability among speakers. The target sentence patterns of this study are: Subject NP-Verb-for-NP-to do, and Subject NP-Verb-NP (or PP)-to do. One of the key challenges to language teachers, students, and researchers of English (linguistics) is to well understand and apply useful English sentence patterns in communication settings. The
present study carefully examines some commonly used reference books in order to verify whether the information in the reference books matches the actual use of English language, and this study aims to
