In 2018, a new curriculum on English education will be introduced into the current curriculum in elementary schools where the elementary school children start to learn English from the third grade, and they commence English as a subject. With the advent of the new curriculum, however, not a few elementary school teachers feel uneasy about appropriate methods in which English activity classes are conducted. Based on the findings of a survey administered by Hiroe and Hatada (2013), a further survey was administered to highlight an aspect of the school internal system, Division of English activities in particular, so that teachers with more than 20 years’ experience tend not to deal with the Division of English activities.
