There is much to learn from U.S. experience in adapting to universal access to higher education and in developing assessment culture and integrative curriculum. However, there might also be pitfalls in simply implementing American schemes into the Japanese context. With a view to examining successful innovation in U.S. general education, the authors made site visits to four colleges and universities. They were Wagner College, Elon University, Alverno College, and Indiana University ― Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), each renowned for a unique undergraduate curriculum. Case reports of each institution are presented and discussed in terms of the difference and common requirement of higher education in both countries., 長崎大学 大学教育機能開発センター紀要, 4, pp.23-37; 2013}, pages = {23--37}, title = {米国における教養教育改革の事例 -ワグナー大学・イーロン大学・アルバーノ大学・IUPUIの訪問調査報告-}, volume = {4}, year = {2013} }
