He has rendered several modern American novels into Japanese. His translations are very readable. However, they betray the reader in a sense because he tends to domesticate facts. Hence, the more faithfully he translates an original text, the more it contains local Japanese contexts. The translated novel is more inclined to represent Japanese society than American culture. This tendency becomes clear when Murakami’s rendition of Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s is compared to Naotar? Takiguchi’s version from the perspectives of translation style and methods. An examination of Murakami’s translation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s yields the discovery that rather than the 1940s New\nYork setting of the original text, Murakami’s Tiffany’s represents Japanese society, particularly the lifestyle of post-bubble economy Tokyo.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_3_description_64":{"attribute_name":"引用","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"多文化社会研究, 6, pp.45-70; 2020","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_3_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"長崎大学 多文化社会学部"}]},"item_3_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"21891486","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_3_text_62":{"attribute_name":"sortkey","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"04"}]},"item_3_text_63":{"attribute_name":"出版者別言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"School of Global Humanities and Social Sciences, Nagasaki University"}]},"item_3_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Suzuki, Akiyoshi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2020-12-18"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"JGHSS6_45.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.5 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"JGHSS6_45.pdf","url":"https://nagasaki-u.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/665/files/JGHSS6_45.pdf"},"version_id":"51d58c48-6650-4f7f-8969-2833c0f1a1e0"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"Haruki Murakami","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Breakfast at Tiffany’s, counterturn","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"manifest","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"translation","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Counterturn-of-Faith and Manifest in Translation: Haruki Murakami’s Translation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Counterturn-of-Faith and Manifest in Translation: Haruki Murakami’s Translation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s"}]},"item_type_id":"3","owner":"2","path":["103"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2020-04-17"},"publish_date":"2020-04-17","publish_status":"0","recid":"665","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Counterturn-of-Faith and Manifest in Translation: Haruki Murakami’s Translation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s"],"weko_creator_id":"2","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-16T04:13:52.609216+00:00"}
