Air-dried specimens of different wood species having a wide range of specific gravity (ru) were used in this study, and were cut by feeding a knife, which was set on the experimental apparatus (Fig.2). The deformation of the chip and the roughness of the workpiece cutting-surface were observed relatively and estimated sensuously.
