The DEAN's modified ignition loss method is here used to determine the organic and carbonate carbon content in the tidal flat sediments. Averages of value of ignition loss of organic matter and carbon-dioxide which were heated at 550℃ and 850℃ in a muffle furnace for each one hour are 7.89% and 2.41% respectively. The result shows that there is a high correlation between the values of ignition loss of organic matter and median diameter or mud content in the fine-grained sediments of the tidal flat in Isahaya Bay., 長崎大学教育学部自然科学研究報告. vol.29, p.81-90; 1978}, pages = {81--90}, title = {海底堆積物の強熱減量 その1 : 長崎県諫早湾の干潟堆積物の強熱減量}, volume = {29}, year = {1978} }
