本研究の目的は，小児がんの患児をもつ父親の役割が入院前後でどの様に変わったのか,母親が認識する父親の役割変化とその思いをインタビューにより，明らかにすることである．結果，児の病状が安定した療養生活を送っている時期，父親の役割変化を母親は，【家事はしない，してもちょっとしたもの】から【可能な家事を自ら行う】へ，【関心のある範囲内での子どもの相手や世話】から【入院を支える】【母親，子どもの心身のサポート】，【私（母親）とは異なる子どもへの関わり】と役割が拡充していると認識していた．この役割変化により，母親の思いは父親への【依存されている苛立ち】あるいは【あきらめ】から【有難い存在】【がん闘病の過程を共に乗り越えている実感】【頼りがいのある父親】へと父親の存在を高く評価していた． |

The objective of this study is to clarify how a father’s role changes when his child becomes hospitalized for cancer treatment. We interviewed mothers of childhood cancer patients and asked them about any paternal role changes they had noticed. The interview results indicate that, in order to stabilize the treatment process for their children, these fathers went from ‘doing little or no housework’ to ‘doing more of the housework’. They also went from just ‘playing with their children’ to actually ‘supporting the physical and emotional state of their wives and children’. As a result of these paternal role changes, the mothers of these childhood cancer patients went from feeling ‘powerless’ and ‘get impatient’ with their husbands to feeling ‘appreciative of their husbands new role, dependability, and support for the family with me’. These mothers had a highly valuation with their husbands. |
