Globalization is one of keywords, and personnel and physical\nexchange will be encouraged in such society. Curriculum from elementary school to high\nschool in Japan integrates international understanding class as key stone of school\neducation to foster personnel who are responsible in such society. Although the history of\ninternational understanding education in Japan is not long yet, schools across the country\nhave started the class.\nThis research investigated international understanding education in school curriculum\nand found out the following tasks.\n1) The subject teachers need to have much experience of international exchange.\n2) The class needs to emphasize not only to appreciate other cultures, but also to promote\nown culture.\n3) It is necessary to consider the international exchange with cooperation of the whole\ncommunity.\nUniversities play important role in fostering teachers and leaders in a society to push ahead\ninternational understanding by improving the tasks. From the point of view, this paper\nexamined two programs which are implemented in Nagasaki University. One of two is\nI-STEP, and the other is an exchange program in the Elementary School Attached to\nNagasaki University, Faculty Education. The result suggested that these projects contribute\nto improve the tasks 1) and 2) mentioned above. 内容記述 | Many countries are turning into “knowledge-based society”, which new knowledge and skills, such as IT and advanced science; provide a platform for the country's economic and other social activities. Globalization is one of keywords, and personnel and physical exchange will be encouraged in such society. Curriculum from elementary school to high school in Japan integrates international understanding class as key stone of school education to foster personnel who are responsible in such society. Although the history of international understanding education in Japan is not long yet, schools across the country have started the class.
